What Readers Are Saying About The Alpha Flame (So Far)

Launch day is still a few weeks away, but The Alpha Flame is already in readers’ hands, and I’ve had the enormous privilege of receiving two early reviews that left me deeply moved.

These reviews are more than feedback. They’re little proof-points that the story connected. That Maggie and Beth are being seen. That the risks I took in writing something so emotionally raw weren’t for nothing.

Here’s what readers are saying, in their own words, and what those words meant to me.

“Some stories are soft. But this one right here is fire.”

“The Alpha Discovery doesn’t ease the reader in like some psychological thrillers will do. It throws you straight into the aftermath of loss… and peels back the layers of trauma, memory, and identity with unflinching honesty.”

“It’s not a story of comfort, but of chaos, longing, and a search for connection… The narrative unravels like a therapy session you didn’t realise you needed.”

Pejuola Ransome on Goodreads

Pejuola’s words brought me to tears. Not because they’re flattering (though I’m endlessly grateful), but because she got it. She saw what I was trying to do. She didn’t flinch from the chaos or the discomfort, she embraced it. That’s exactly the kind of reader I hoped would find this book.

“A wonderful read… 4.5 out of 5.”

“The characters, Maggie and Beth, are outstanding… Their connection and the strength they show in looking out for each other are portrayed brilliantly.”

“Even the side characters are well-written and given substance. The chemistry between the characters is amazing.”

Ela Sharp on Goodreads

Ela’s review showed me how differently people experience the same story, and that’s part of the beauty of it. She noticed the strength of the characters, the slow unfolding of narration, and even the moments that pushed her comfort zone. That balance, admiration and honesty, is exactly what makes a review useful. And real.

Why Reviews Matter So Much

For indie authors like me, reviews are more than validation. They’re visibility. They help readers find us. They give new readers confidence that they’re not alone in choosing something different, something raw, something real.

So to Pejuola, to Ela, and to every reader who has taken the time to say something, I see you. I’m listening. And I’m incredibly grateful.

The Alpha Flame: Discovery launches 21 August 2025. If you’ve read it early, I’d love to hear what it meant to you.
